L to R. Susan, Dianne, Murray, Glenn, SheilaAnn, Heather The Rev. Dianne Mesh has been rector at St. James since October 2008. She was born and raised in a small fishing village on the east coast of Newfoundland. She received a Bachelor of Arts (Education) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, a Master in Education form the University of Western Ontario and a Masters in Divinity from Trinity College, University of Toronto. She was ordained in the Diocese of Toronto in 1996 and served in four parishes in that diocese before coming to Saskatoon in 2008. A graduate of the Toronto School of Theology Jubilee Program in Spiritual Direction, Dianne has a keen interest in helping others to grow spiritually. She also has training and experience in providing pastoral care with the dying and the bereaved, with a special concern for how death and grief affect the lives of children. Dianne is an active person who enjoys the outdoors, especially cross-country skiing and long walks. She is an avid knitter and enjoys a good mystery novel.Our honorary clergy assistant is The Rev. Canon Glenn Ash . Glenn has a long history with St. James, serving as rector from 1969 to 1981. After retirement, he and his wife Adelaide remained at St. James as active parishioners. Glenn has a passion for Global Justice issues and the work of the PWRDF. SheilaAnn Whiteway is responsible for coordinating spiritual development programming including adult education and programs aimed at meeting the needs of newcomers. She is also responsible for communication to the community about what is happening at St. James'. This is a second career for SheilaAnn. Prior to joining the St. James' team, she worked for 29 years as a librarian, mostly with the Saskatoon Public Library. Murray Ashton is in charge of maintenance and really keeps the place humming! He retired from the City of Saskatoon after 25 years in Environmental Services. Murray was on the executive of the Solid Waste Assoc. of N. America, Prairie Chapter, for 15 years and was presented with a Professional Achievement Award in 2002 at the International SWANA convention in Long Beach, California. A long time member of the St. James family, Murray enjoys welcoming people to the Church and The Refinery, along with his wife Susan, who is music librarian for the choir. Heather Blakley joined the St. James' team in April 2011 as the Music Director. Heather comes to St. James with a wealth of
musical experience in many fields. She has a Bachelor of Music in Piano
Performance and Pedagogy from Brandon University, an Associate Diploma from the Western Board of Music,
and has completed courses in Kodaly, Suzuki Piano and Choral
Conducting. In addition to her position at St. James' , Heather teaches
in the University Community Music Education Program as an early
childhood specialist, has a large studio of private piano and theory
students, examines for a national conservatory and adjudicates music
festivals in western Canada. Heather’s philosophy of music and
faith is that music is a joyful expression of celebration of God’s
influence in our lives. In her spare time Heather enjoys physical
fitness, golf and spending time with her family and friends. Sue Verity is the Office Manager with St. James' with the Refinery and has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan. Sue is an accountant, mother, genius multi-tasker and faithful member of the St James' Community. She has loved being a part of this wonderful church community for 30 years! She is also currently the Director of Sunday School. Sue enjoys crafting, being inspired by children and giving people chocolate! |
